I replaced the ignition and the Starter. When I turn the key, the Dash lights up, but nothing happens. I leave the key on and jump the solenoid to the starter and the tractor starts. It will run fine until I turn the key off. What am I missing?

Check the Ignition Switch: Even though you replaced the ignition switch, it's worth double-checking to ensure it's functioning properly. Make sure all connections are secure and that there are no loose wires.
Inspect the Wiring: Examine the wiring harness connected to the ignition switch and starter solenoid for any signs of damage, such as fraying, corrosion, or loose connections. Pay close attention to any wires that may have been disturbed during the replacement process.
Test the Starter Relay/Solenoid: The fact that jumping the solenoid starts the tractor suggests that the solenoid itself is likely functioning correctly. However, it's still worth testing or replacing the starter relay to rule out any issues with it.
Check the Neutral Safety Switch: Some tractors have a neutral safety switch that prevents the engine from starting unless the transmission is in neutral. Ensure that this switch is functioning properly and that it's not stuck or damaged.
Inspect Fuses and Relays: Check all fuses and relays related to the ignition system to ensure they're not blown or faulty. Replace any that are damaged.

Thanks Steve,
I have seen other posts where there would be clicking sound each time the key was turned until either it started or the clicking would stop. If it stopped you'd have to wait for something to reset. then you could try again. mine used to do that, but now i get no clicking at all. ....

The place to start is at the starter. You will need a voltmeter and possibly help turning the key switch if you don't have long enough leads. You need to take the start signal wire off the starter, connect the volt meter to the lead and turn the key to "start." You need to see at least 10 volts. Any less and the starter most likely will not energize. This condition is what causes the "clicking but not always starting" you read about elsewhere. Your starter works if you supply battery voltage to the start terminal, you've already confirmed that. The switches and related circuits may all be working but even so if the voltage at the end is too low, you get the "no start" symptom. If that's the case, there is a solution to the problem. If you get no voltage at all, then proceed with testing from the key switch on down. ....
